Check out ebay or craig's list for the 'boom tube' sold under the virgin name (sony may have done a clone as well). Great, rich sound that packs tightly, doesn't take up much room when traveling and even has a silly little - but still effective - sub-woofer. Good luck finding one , if you're interested . . . and safe and inspired travels to you.

Interesting. I found the Amazon reviews, but not available now, and nothing on eBay at the moment. But my Bose speakers are portable, actually, so they're going in the luggage (well packed, and maybe carry on). Won't work in the field, but then again, if there's no electricity, nothing will ... and heck, I don't listen to my music ALL the time. Sometimes bird songs are pretty darned nice :-)
